Warangal: The ambience at the TRS public meeting here on Thursday was like electric as it was that the days of “dhoom dhaam” that played a catalyst in spreading the Telangana movement are back, or perhaps indicating that clouds of snap polls are looming large over the State, or merely to send a powerful message to the Opposition parties.

Since its inception, TRS chief K Chandrashekar Rao has always banked on huge public meetings especially in times of crisis and the one today at Prakashreddypeta as part of party’s 16th foundation day was no exception. The only difference is that then TRS was in Opposition benches carrying a tireless fight for separate State and now in Treasury benches.

However, the TRS government is not facing any hard-headed issues; there is a growing concern among the party ranks that there is a danger lurking in the form of agrarian crisis. Against this backdrop, the TRS chief once again chose his lucky charm Warangal and this time around he wanted the meeting even bigger that the previous ones in 2003, 2007 and 2010.

In a bid to invoke the same sentiment and emotion, the TRS has come up with a never before kind of public meeting. Harking back to the days of T movement, the party leaders ensured the public meeting has all the ingredients such as “Dhoom Dhaam” and other cultural events to keep the large crowds jubilant.

On a day mercury soared to 43 degree Celsius, with the mist maker fog machines providing some kind of comfort, the cultural troupes enthralled the audience up and till KCR stepped on to the dais and launched a tirade against the Congress, besides reeling out the Rs 40,000 crore welfare schemes initiated by his government.
