Furious Opposition vows to go to Jana Sabha
Hyderabad: The Business Advisory Committee (BAC) which met here on Saturday to finalise the business for the special session of the state Assembly to be held on Sunday kept two Opposition parties, the BJP and the TDP away from the meeting.
According to Minister for Legislative Affairs T Harish Rao, leaders of these two parties have not been invited since they are under suspension from the Assembly. While the TDP leaders A Revanth Reddy and Sandra Venkata Veeraiah were suspended from the Budget session of the Assembly for causing disturbance during the Governor’s Address to both the Houses, all the five members of the BJP were suspended from the Assembly on April 16 as they tried to stall the proceedings to protest the bill for raising the reservation quota for Muslims in the state.
Speaking to The Hans India, BJP floor leader G Kishen Redy said this was a deliberate act on the part of the government. He said it was unfortunate that the government was behaving in such a vindictive manner. He said when the land amendment Bill was passed, he had urged the government to refer the same to a select committee, take opinion of Rythu Sanghams and other organisations and not to rush with passing the Bill.
But the government was adamant and with the majority it has it passed the Bill. The hurry shown by the government has resulted in the centre sending it back pointing out certain flaws in the Bill. “This is sort of an insult for the Assembly.
The Assembly is expected to discuss the Bills in detail and should send to the Centre only when it is sure that there were no lacunae in it. Even in case of the Muslim reservation Bill, the state government had committed the same mistake and when BJP tried to point out the flaws, they have been suspended from the Assembly till the end of session and making use of technicality they want to keep the BJP out of Assembly on Sunday.
Reddy said the government was unable to take criticism. “We condemn such an attitude. If the government does not allow us to enter the Shasana Sabha we will go to Jana Sabha,” he added. He also wondered why KCR always wants to hold the special session on Sundays. Nowhere does such a thing happen, he added.
