Hyderabad: State Energy Minister G Jagadish Reddy said that Telangana would explore the possibility to produce energy from biomass as is done in Brazil.The minister , who is on a 10-day tour to Brazil to take part in the EXPOZEBU being orgnaised by Brazilian Zebu Breeders Association on Sunday, said that he would submit a report to Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao on Brazilian model of agriculture, animal husbandry and dairy development and biomass-based energy production .
The minister said if the government finds that Brazalian model would be suitable for Telangana, it may enter into an agreement with that country to replicate the model in Telangana. Jagadish Reddy , who attended the exhibition along with a 16 member team from India, said that about 1,600 high quality breeds of native cattle belonging to different parts of the world were put on show during the exhibition. Ongole bull from the Telugu states, Gir cow from Gujarat, Sahiwal from Punjab and others from India were on show at the international exhibition.
The Minister said the government wants to encourage cattle rearing in Telangana in a big way and the information he would be gathering from the exhibition would be helpful to improve the living standards of farmers. The minister also met the Brazilian minister for agricultures and other officials and held discussions on the feasibility of Brazil and Telangana jointly working in the area of agriculture, animal husbandry and dairy development.
