Jagitial: District Collector Dr A Sharath directed officials on Sunday to take necessary precautionary steps at the grain purchasing centres in the district keeping in view the statement released by the Met department that heavy to moderate rains might be expected in next 48 hours. The Collector ordered the officials of Revenue department to take steps for transporting grains that are purchased immediately to the rice millers.

“If the trucks are not sufficient to transport the grains, then hire local tractors available with the help of workers,” ordered the Collector, suggesting the officials to keep tarpaulins at hand to cover the grains in case it rains. “Entire Revenue department from Village Revenue Officer to Tahsildar must be alert and inspect the situation on hourly basis to address any exigency,” ordered the Collector.

By taking all precautionary steps before hand, the officials must handle any type of worse situation perfectly by not creating any convenience to farmers, added the Collector.Meanwhile, farmers are concerned over the changing weather conditions and said these unseasonal rains would ruin their produce. They urged the officials to arrange the storage structures for their produce before they sell it in the centres.
