Hanamkonda: Commissioner of police G Sudheer Babu directed the investigating officials to put up special efforts, in collecting evidence, in the cases they were probing.

He addressed a gathering of police and legal officials at a seminar on ‘Law Relating to Documents’ at the Commissionerate in Hanamkonda on Saturday. The seminar was organised under the aegis of deputy director of prosecutions, Warangal.

He said in order to ensure conviction of the accused in the courts; the police officials and public prosecutors should adopt a plan of action. Sometimes the cases were being struck down in the courts during a trial as a person accused of a crime was not proven guilty.

The investigating officers and public prosecutors (PPs) have to sit together and discuss the reasons why a case was struck down. The victims of a crime could be ensured justice only when the person accused of the crime was punished by the court of law, the commissioner explained.

Hence the investigating officers and PPs have to make extra efforts in collecting the documents relating to a crime so that the person accused of a crime would be punished. In the case of any trial, if the PPs face trouble, they could bring the issue to my notice, Sudheer Babu said.

The deputy director of prosecutions Mohammed Sardar said enquiry committees would be set up to look into the issues why a case was struck down in the courts and efforts would be made to ensure justice to victims of crime. Grade-II public prosecutor K Durgaji also addressed the gathering.

Warangal district public prosecutor Ganga Raju, DCPs MS Venugopal Rao and Md. Ismail and others were also present.
