Hyderabad: State government will likely constitute a sub-committee to study the proposal to scrap the zonal system in the State.

Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao took the decision to set up the committee based on the recent recommendations by Chief Secretary S P Singh.

Official sources said Deputy Chief Minister K Srihari would lead the sub-committee and finalise the rules and guidelines which will replace the zonal system in the recruitment process.

The committee would also study the draft rules framed by the State General Administration Department (GAD) and the final recommendations would be forwarded to the President for his consent.

President’s approval is mandatory to abolish the zonal system which came into force before bifurcation. State government has been facing hurdles in the recruitment process and general transfers of the government employees in the existing zonal system.
