Hyderabad: State Transport Department is contemplating increasing the user charges for its services and a decision in this regard is likely to be taken after the Transport Minister P Mahender Reddy, who is on a tour to Andhra Pradesh, returns.

According to sources, the department had doubled the service/user charges to its services. The user charges for learners license earlier was Rs 30 but the government has proposed to increase it to Rs 100. For light motor vehicle license, the charges would be Rs 200 and for non-transport license the charges have been increased from Rs 100 to Rs 300.

Joint Transport Commissioner T Raghunath told The Hans India that the government has not taken a decision on this as the Minister and department higher officials would be in Vijayawada on Wednesday.

Mahender Reddy would be meeting with his Andhra Pradesh counterpart Achhanaidu and other officials to take up the pending issues like single permit, RTC and other issues. After the officials return from Andhra Pradesh, a decision would be taken and intimated to the media, he said.
