Hyderabad: The Engineering Agricultural and Medical Common Entrance Test (Eamcet) - 2017, for admissions into engineering, medical and agriculture colleges in the State, was conducted successfully in AP and Telangana on Friday.

Some students could not appear for the Eamcet-2017 due to strict implementation of the one-minute-late-no-entry rule enforced by Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University (JNTU), which conducted the exam. Some parents and students protested in front of the Nizam College gate in city.

The students cited various reasons for their late arrival, including traffic jams, lack of proper transport facility and difficulty in locating the centre.

Eamcet Chairman A Venugopal Reddy said the candidates had been warned well in advance about this rule and asked them to start from their homes early to reach the examination centre well in time, since Friday was a working day.

The test for engineering was held from 10 am to 1 pm and for medical and agriculture stream from 2.30 pm to 5.30 pm. The test in engineering stream was held in 246 centres and in medical and agriculture stream was held in 154 centres in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh.

As many as 2.20 lakh have applied for the Eamcet (both streams put together). In engineering stream about 1.41 lakh were issued hall tickets and 1.31 lakh appeared for the test and the appearance percentage was 93.3.
