Hyderabad: Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) commissioner B Janardhan Reddy on Friday directed all agencies to take down the hoardings immediately and not to mount flexies or display advertisements on hoardings and unipoles till June 15.

The ban has been imposed in view of a warning issued by the India Meteorological Department stating that Hyderabad city might witness intense spells of rains of the order of 5-10 cm per hour and strong/gusty winds ranging between 100-150 kmph.

Further, it has also stated that the weather conditions could also generate lightning, thunder and hailstones in June. On account of heavy winds on May 9, four hoardings in different locations collapsed causing damages to property and vehicles in their area of impact. Therefore, ban on flexies is being imposed to avoid possible damage.
