Hyderabad: Agriculture Minister Pocharam Srinivas Reddy on Friday admitted that it was wrong to hand-cuff farmers while they were produced before a court in connection with a case on violence at Khammam Market Yard.

Speaking to mediapersons here, the Agriculture Minister blamed the local police for hand-cuffing of farmers. However, he assured that necessary action would be taken against the officials responsible for the act.

It may be mentioned that 10 chilli farmers, who were arrested on the charges of holding violent protest at Khammam Market Yard for not getting remunerative prices for their produce, were brought hand-cuffed to a local court on Thursday.

Opposition parties had condemned the act and accused the TRS Government of treating farmers like hard core criminals.
