Mahbubnagar: Irrigation Minister T Harish Rao has directed the irrigation officials of 4 districts of erstwhile Mahbubnagar district to speed up all the works under 9 major irrigation projects in Nagarkurnool, Wanaparthy, Gadwal and Mahbubnagar and complete them in time.

During a three day tour of Mahbubnagar and adjacent districts, the minister travelled across all the work spots and supervised the ongoing works of Palamuru Ranga Reddy Lift irrigation project. He directed the officials to take up the works in two shifts to complete them on time.

“Despite hurdles created by the Opposition parties with regard to land acquisition, we are determined to complete all the projects on time. We may be a bit late but I am sure we will complete all the projects and ensure that 8 lakh acres will get irrigation water in the district. We are giving highest priority to irrigation projects in every constituency,” said Harish Rao, while addressing a press meet in Devarkadra.

The minister also said that the Government is determined to change the negative brand of Mahbubnagar from a district identified with migration and backwardness into a district noted for greenery and agriculture. During his three day tour of Mahbubnagar, Wanaparthy and Nagarkurnool districts, the minister stayed at the project site at night and supervised the works.
