Hyderabad: Municipal Minister K T Rama Rao would soon lay foundation stones for two long pending projects in the city - the Amberpet flyover and the Uppal elevated corridor.The minister asked the GHMC officials to speed up the process to acquire the land for taking up the works. He said that as the new law is in the place, hurdles for land acquisition had gone. He wanted the officials to complete the land acquisition within two months. The officials have already issued notification for acquiring the properties, KTR said.

The Government is proposing to construct an elevated corridor from Uppal to Nandanavanam Bhagyanagar stretch of 6.4 km with a cost of Rs 960 crore. The Union Surface Transport Ministry has given its approval for the four-lane elevated corridor, which is aimed at facilitating the motorists to enter the city without traffic hassles at Uppal.

The minister said that out of the Rs 960 crore, Rs 330 crore would be spent on land acquisition and remaining for the project works. The DPR for the project was also ready and the officials would be visiting New Delhi on May 17. He further said that efforts would be made to complete the project within two years.

The minister informed that Rs 243 crore have been allocated for the Amberpet flyover and out of this, Rs 130 crore would be used for land acquisition. GHMC would acquire the lands for the 1.4 km flyover . The minister thanked the Union Surface Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari for sanctioning these projects.
