New buses to Vizag shore up TSRTC revenue
The Mahbubnagar depot of Telangana Road Transport Corporation initiated two new air conditioned buses to Vishakhapatnam, connecting Mahbubnagar to Vizag in Andhra Pradesh. This new interstate route has come as a shot in the arm for the Mahbubnagar depot, as it is earning good daily revenues since its launch last week on 7 May.Â

​Mahbubnagar: The Mahbubnagar depot of Telangana Road Transport Corporation initiated two new air conditioned buses to Vishakhapatnam, connecting Mahbubnagar to Vizag in Andhra Pradesh. This new interstate route has come as a shot in the arm for the Mahbubnagar depot, as it is earning good daily revenues since its launch last week on 7 May.
According to Rajagopal Rao, Dept Manager, the State government recently sanctioned two new air conditioned coaches to Mahbubnagar district and the depot management started plying these two buses towards Vizag connecting the two Telugu States.
“We have started plying two new AC coaches between Mahbubnagar and Vizag. This was a long pending demand of the people which we have fulfilled and it is receiving a very good response. Since its inception on 7 May, an average Mahbubnagar depot, has earned more than Rs 60,000 revenue per day.
This is a very positive signal for Mahbubnagar RTC which is already running in losses. We are also planning to start two more services to Adilabad and Polavaram from Mahbubnagar very soon if we continue to get the same response” said Rajagopal Rao.
The buses depart from the Mahbubnagar depot at 4.30 pm and arrive in Vizag at 7.30 am the next morning. This is the first of a kind move by the Mahbubnagar depot to initiate long distance service towards Andhra Pradesh in the recent days. Though already there are buses plying to Guntur and Vijayawada from the district but these additional services generate more nominal revenues.
The new A/C coaches from Mahbubnagar have received good response from the public as it is giving good travel comfort. “Vizag is a good tourism destination in Andhra Pradesh and lot of people travel to Vizag from the district for not only tour purpose but also as it is a long distance route, so people travelling to other places like Rajahmundry can also avail these services directly from the district,” said the depot manager.
