Hyderabad: The Telangana government today decided to hold a 'World Telugu Conference' from October 22 to 28. However, the event would be inaugurated on September 30 on the auspicious occasion of 'Vijayadasami', a release from the Chief Minister's Office said.

"The state government has decided to hold inaugural function of the first World Telugu Conference in the state on the auspicious Vijayadasami day on September 30 and the conference will be held from October 22 to 28," it said. The state government had earlier planned to organise the conference from June 2, the state formation day, but it changed the plan as the day is not considered to be an auspicious one, it added.

State government's advisor on literary affairs KV Ramanachary and others today requested Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao to change the dates, the release said. Ramanachary and others also pointed out that weather conditions in October would be more suited to organise the conference than in June. "The CM has instructed them to organise the conference from October 22 to 28 and prepare an agenda (for the event)," it added.
