Hyderabad: Three alleged ISIS sympathisers, who were taken into custody by the City police on Wednesday for questioning, were booked for sedition on Thursday. The three youths were produced before magistrate and let off after being bound over by the executive magistrate.

City police had summoned the three youths - Salman Mohiuddin, Abdullah Basith and Qureshi - after an English news channel aired their interview allegedly showing their continuing links with the ISIS.

A case was registered against them under Section 121 (Waging, or attempting to wage war, or abetting waging of war, against the Government of India) and 124A (Sedition).

"After questioning, they were placed under preventive arrest and produced before the executive magistrate at the Hyderabad Collector’s Office. They were bound over by the executive magistrate and subsequently let off," Deputy Commissioner of Police, Detective Department, Avinash Mohanty said.

He also said that a notice has been served on the news channel asking them to hand over the original interview tape. The content on the tape will be verified before proceeding further, he said.

Salman Mohiuddin, a US-returned engineer, was arrested in 2015 when he was preparing to board a flight to Dubai, allegedly on his way to Syria to join ISIS.

Basith was among the three men who were arrested from Nagpur in December 2015 when they were allegedly on their way to join the ISIS, while Qureshi, was also caught by the police on similar charge earlier.
