Hyderabad: The administration of ‘Bathini Bros’ Fish Prasadam’ will start on Mrigasira Karte Day on June 8 from 9 am and will continue until 9.00 am on June 9. The fish will be administered at the Exhibition Grounds at Nampally. The Bathini family, has been administering live fish every year to asthma patients since over 175 years i.e. 1845.They have been providing free service to the asthma patients for last four generations.

Speaking to media persons, Bathini Harinath Goud said the “fish prasadam” is given on the day of Mrigasira Karte, which marks the onset of monsoon according to Hindu calendar. On that day, the Bathini brothers put herbal paste into the mouth of a live sardine fish measuring 2 to 3 inches and then pushed into patient’s throat.

“For vegetarians, we prepare separate medicine with jaggery. However, vegetarians need to take the prasadam for a longer period,” Harinath Goud said. This prasadam is administered thrice, in a period of 45 days and the patients are supposed to follow a strict diet prescribed by the Bathini brothers.

After the administration of fish medicine, all the three portions of the medicine are also given at the venue one each on Arudra (June 22), Punarvasu (July 6) and Pushyami (July 20). “However, one must strictly avoid 24 items that we suggest and adhere to the diet prescribed by us, otherwise the fish prasadam will not give desired results,” Harinath added.

He said that they have requested the Hyderabad District Collector and relevant Heads of departments to provide necessary arrangements for administering and distributing the Fish Prasadam at Nampally Exhibition Grounds from June 8 to June 9.--
