Hyderabad: The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) Commissioner B Janardhan Reddy on Thursday reviewed the status of nalas in the city. The commissioner instructed the town planning and engineering wing officials to conduct a joint inspection and clear critical bottle necks on priority.

Janardhan Reddy said the civic body has identified as many as 842 properties in critical bottle necks in nalas spread over 370 km which have been surveyed so far.

He directed the town planning and engineering wing officials to conduct joint inspections of the identified properties. He said the individual sketches will be prepared by the Town Planning Wing which will then be handed over to the Engineering Wing for further action.

He said required statutory notices will be served upon the encroachers and in case of government lands, necessary action will be taken for verification of the ownership and in case of private lands, necessary action for acquisition of properties will be taken up.

Further, GHMC commissioner advised the affected property owners to cooperate with GHMC for widening of nalas and storm water drains so as to have free flow of water in drains to avoid inundation.
