The High Court at Hyderabad on Thursday granted partial relief to medical students seeking postgraduate admission into MD and Dental courses in the States of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh by modifying an earlier order of the court on the fee structure.

The vacation division bench comprising Justice AV Seshasai and Justice M S K Jaiswal heard petitions filed by students, complaining of exorbitant fee hike.

It granted relief to them by an interim order stipulating that the students can now pay 50 per cent of the new fee and execute a personal bond for the balance 50 per cent.

The counsel for the petitioners complained to the bench that the hike was not only steep but also was in complete contravention of procedure laid down by law. The governments also committed a breach by allowing such a hike.

Senior counsels appeared for the managements of private colleges while Additional Advocate General for the State of Telangana was also present.
