He praised the police for checking extremism effectively in the new state of Telangana and the credit should go to them.

Addressing a meeting of about 1500 police officers of all levels here on Friday, KCR called upon the police personnel to help the oppressed, poor and the victimized. The Chief Minister said the police have successfully controlled Naxalism, extremism, gambling and illicit liquor, besides help solve several cases at the national level.

“Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh on several occasions have hailed the Telangana police which made me happy and proud,” he said. He also appreciated the police for controlling crime against women through initiatives like SHE Teams. He said better law and order situation was attracting investments for the state.

KCR said despite modernization measures, much needs to be done to strengthen the department, besides addressing problems faced by the women police personnel. He asked the police top brass to give promotions for all eligible personnel.

The Chief Minister said his government was ready to release Rs 500 crore for modernization of the police department and announced that 15,000 persons will be recruited in near future. Acknowledging the Hyderabad city police performance, he said the TRS could win 99 seats in the GHMC elections as people trusted their promise to control crime against women.

Speaking on the occasion, Home Minister Nayani Narasimha Reddy expressed concern over the incidents of suicide by some police officials. He advised the police officials to consult their seniors if they feel any kind of work pressure.

He asked the top officials to prevent recurrence of such incidents. He said the state government was providing adequate funds to strengthen the police department and claimed that there has been a major behavioral change in the police department over the last three years.

Earlier, KCR visited the exhibition where senior officials explained to him about the sophisticated weapons and various gadgets used by the police in their operations.
