Hyderabad: The BJP national executive member Nagam Janardhan Reddy, on Friday, alleged that there was corruption to the tune of Rs 2,400 crore by virtue of raising the estimates of motors in Palamur Rangareddy Lift Irrigation Scheme (PRLIS).
Addressing a press conference here,
Reddy alleged that there were massive irregularities and huge corruption in Palamuru Rangareddy Lift Irrigation Scheme right from the stage of calling of tenders. Contracts were given to ineligible Andhra contractors especially in the lift packages like 1, 5, 8, and 16.
He said that one ENC- Muralidhar Rao changed the report and raised estimations. The ENC, who is on outsourcing duty, has been taking key decisions. He alleged that the rates of pumps and motors which were technically sanctioned were increased heavily.
In the detailed estimates given by Engineering Staff College of India, the rate of pump with associated auxiliaries suitable to connect to 145 MW motor was Rs 60 crore. The synchronised motor with associated auxiliaries was Rs 58 crore. The rate of pump was increased from Rs 60 crore to Rs 92 crore and the rate of motor was increased from Rs 58 crore to Rs 87 crore.
Janardhan Reddy alleged that the rates increased in the revised estimates were done arbitrarily which has been causing great concern as it involves huge money. “On each pump, Rs 61 crore is increased and a total of 8 sets of pump and motor at pumping station of Narlapur, the cost increased is Rs 614.49 crore indulging the taxes.
For the entire 4 packages of Narlapur, Yedula, Vattem and Uddandapur, the estimates are illegally increased over Rs 2,400 crore within 72 hours before issuing the notice inviting tenders,” said Janardhan Reddy.Janardhan Reddy alleged that there was large scale corruption even in the Mission Bhagiratha. He said that some of the TRS MLAs, in violation of tender conditions, had started new pipe manufacturing companies and doing the contracts with huge profits violating the earlier tender form.
He demanded the Chief Minister to order for a CBI inquiry if he is sincere. “I am throwing an open challenge and placing the documentary evidence exposing massive corruption of your government and expect you to order an inquiry and come out clean or face consequences. If you don’t respond in 15 days I will hand over this to ACB court,” said Janardhan Reddy in a letter to CM.
