Mahbubnagar: As many as 20 farmers in Mahbubnagar received new tractors on subsidy from the State government. Local MLA V Srinivas Goud handed over the registration papers to the respective farmers and promised to include more farmers under farming mechanisation schemes in subsequent phases in the coming years.

“We are giving highest priority to the farming sector. As many as 20 beneficiaries have received tractors on subsidy. Apart from this, we are also keenly focusing on the urban roads and culverts’ development. Unlike the earlier government that left the culverts and roads unattended for years together, after formation of Telangana, we are also taking up construction of roads, culverts and other urban amenities,” said Srinivas Goud, while taking part in various development programmes in the district.

Each tractor costs Rs 8 lakh, however, the State government is providing 50 per cent subsidy to the farmers. As part of this scheme, the beneficiary has to pay on Rs 4 lakh while the remaining Rs 4 lakh will be borne by the government as subsidy to the farmer.

“With the renovation of major lakes under Mission Kakatiya, the farmers will have abundant water recourses and can sow two crops happily with the waters in tanks and lakes. With the distribution of subsidised tractors, the government has further made farming easier and less toilsome,” said the MLA, while addressing a gathering at the tractor distribution programme.
