The Chief Minister who chaired the TRSLP meeting on Saturday said that the announcement of financial assistance of Rs 8,000 per acre for two crop seasons to farmers would help them in a big way. Sources said that the Chief Minister was of the opinion that almost all the farmers are debt ridden and assistance like Rs 8,000 would help them in a big way. The results may not be visible instantly but this would help in the coming years. As per a report, the farmers have dug many bore wells and this involves lot of money.

Because of such activities, the agriculture has become a costlier affair. With the measures the government has been taking, agriculture once again will become a profitable profession, he said. Referring to the scheme to distribute sheep to the traditional shepherd families, KCR said this would help them to overcome the financial problems. The Chief Minister asked the party leaders not to care for the criticism by the opposition parties. He said that the programme is being introduced with good intension and it is going to be a great success.

Explaining the details of the programme, he said TRS Government has decided to distribute 84 lakh sheep. About 42 lakh sheep would be distributed this year by lottery and the remaining 42 lakh next year. The programme would be launched on June 20. The government proposes to take up awareness programmes in all the districts and educate the Yadava and Kurma families .

About 3,700 societies have already been enrolled to avail the government facility. Government was giving 75 per cent subsidy to the beneficiary, who would have to pay only 25 per cent per unit comprising of 21 sheep including one male. About four lakh families are expected to get benefit from the scheme.
