Hyderabad: The Telangana Congress Committee is racing against time to complete the arrangements for the June 1 meeting of AICC Vice-President Rahul Gandhi to be held at Sangareddy.

The TPCC has taken it as a prestigious issue and feels that it will galvanise the party rank and file and help in strengthening its base in the State. The TPCC president on Saturday held a marathon meeting with the youth Congress leaders and urged them to ensure that a large number of people are mobilised for the public meeting.

Interestingly, barring a few senior leaders like Damodar Rajanarsimha, Sunitha Laxma Reddy and J Geeta Reddy, not many seem to be playing active role in organising the meeting. The Leader of Opposition K Jana Reddy has gone abroad and is likely to return on Monday.

Other senior leaders like Komatireddy brothers, Danam Nagender and others also seem to be missing from action. Meanwhile, the TPCC president said the schedule for the visit of AICC Vice-President Rahul Gandhi has been finalised.

According to Uttam Kumar Reddy, Rahul Gandhi will reach Begumpet Airport by a chartered flight at 3.30 pm on June 1. He will then be taken in a rally to Sangareddy passing through Somajiguda, Punjagutta, Erragadda, Kukatpally, BHEL X-Road and Patancheruvu. At Sangareddy R&B Guest House, Rahul Gandhi will interact with top leaders from 5 pm to 6 pm. Later, he will proceed to Ambedkar Stadium to address the 'Telangana Praja Garjana' public meeting.

The AICC Vice-President willl also interact with several aggrieved groups like farmers, jobless and other sections, who, the Congress said, were hit due to the wrong policies of TRS government.

After the meeting, Rahul Gandhi will return to Hyderabad by road and take the return flight from Begumpet Airport.
