Hyderabad: Alleging that the delay by police officials to register complaints by the dowry victims has been pushing the latter to the brink, High Court advocate Gopala Krishna Kalanidhi urged for digitalisation of complaints and setting up judges’ panel to monitor online FIRs and charge-sheets.

Speaking to media persons on Sunday, he presented at least 26 of his clients who are the victims of the lethargic attitude of Inspectors of different police stations. He alleges that the police are failed to initiate timely action against the accused.

The present police system is totally in favour of erring husbands and in-laws, which is the prime reason for the women-folk to come to a conclusion that ‘suicide’ is the only option. “If the government does not take a firm stand regarding this issue, the women, who are made to run from pillar to post, will be taking extreme step and in such a case and Hindu Marriage system will collapse,” he cautioned.

Gopala Krishna suggested that government introduce online examination of complaints and for this purpose, a toll free number be allotted. The complaints can be scanned regularly by a panel comprising of retired High Court Judges, who will direct the Inspector to register or avoid a particular complaint. The board may also suggest guidelines to the complainants.
