Hyderabad: Telugu Desam Party (TDP) State unit working president A Revanth Reddy on Wednesday shot off a four page letter to the Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao demanding that the government declare one day in a year as Telangana Martyrs day.

The TDP leader alleged that the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) government had failed in providing relief to the families of Telangana martyrs since three years. Chief Minister had promised that the kin of every martyr family would get a government job but no steps were taken towards this end so far. Compensation was also not given to all the recognised 1569 martyr families.

Revanth demanded that the government construct the largest Martyr memorial in Hyderabad and declare December 3 as Telangana martyrs day. This was the day when Srikantha Chary had committed suicide in Hyderabad when the agitation for separate Telangana was at its peak.

He also demanded that the government provide double bed room houses to the martyrs family, the construction of memorials in all 31 districts and to withdraw all cases registered against the families of martyrs during the Telangana movement in the united Andhra Pradesh.
