Assuring the medical authorities that land would be provided for the new building, the Chief Minister said that this hospital would be made on par with corporate hospitals.

​Hyderabad: As part of strengthening medical infrastructure, Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao on Saturday announced that the Modern Government Maternity Hospital at Petlaburj will have an advanced block to meet the growing requirement. Assuring the medical authorities that land would be provided for the new building, the Chief Minister said that this hospital would be made on par with corporate hospitals.
Launching ‘KCR Kits Scheme’, a gift hamper to women who underwent delivery, the Chief Minister said that the government is committed to provide good medical facilities in all government hospitals. KCR Kit worth Rs 2000, consists of 15 items useful to the mother and the child.
The kit includes – a baby soap, baby oil, baby powder, two baby dresses, towels, mosquito net and two sarees for the mother. The government has already opened ultrasound centre, emergency ward, general wards, stabilisation centre for complicated cases, recovery room and other facilities at the Petlaburj hospital.
The officials informed KCR that the total bed strength in the hospital was 462 as against the demand for over 700. He appreciated the staff for catering to the needs of all the 700 patients. He also recalled how a doctor by name Mahalaxmi had rendered yeomen services in this hospital.
In view of shortage of beds and increase in demand, the Chief Minister asserted the need for the expansion of the hospital. KCR also asked the Health officials to construct ‘Dharmasalas’ in every hospital to provide shelter for the patients’ attendants. The CM also interacted with the nursing staff and enquired about their problems. He assured them better stipend and mess facilities.
Union Minister for Labour and Employment Bandaru Dattatreya, Deputy Chief Minister Md Mahmood Ali, Home Minister Naini Narasimha Reddy, Health Minister Laxmareddy and others were present.
