The ward gets five air conditioning systems through crowdfunding
Hyderabad: Thanks to crowdfunding initiated by Helping Hand Foundation, an NGO, the 25 bedded Aryogyasri ward that handles burn cases in Gandhi Hospital gets a new air conditioning system of five air conditioners.
The new unit was formally inaugurated on Friday by Dr P Shravan Kumar, Superintendent at Gandhi Hospital in the presence of Deputy Superintendent Dr Narsimha Rao and Dr A Subodh Kumar, HOD of Plastic & Reconstructive surgery and RMOs.
Superintendent Dr Shravan Kumar, on the occasion, said that the Plastic Surgery Department at Gandhi Hospital has been providing humanitarian service and striving to fulfil the growing needs of Burn cases in the hospital.
In view of the high work load on account of Burn cases, he demanded an exclusive Plastic surgery unit attached to Burns ward and said a proposal to this effect has already been submitted to the Government. Gandhi Hospital, at an average, gets 4 – 5 new cases of Burn injuries on a daily basis and last year alone 1500 cases were registered in the Burns unit.
Nearly 70 per cent of burn cases which come to the hospital are from the neighbouring districts of Nalgonda, Mahboobnagar, Medak, Karimnagar, Nizamabad & Adilabad and the rest 30 per cent cases are from the city.
Mujtaba Hasan Askari, founder of Helping Hand Foundation said, “The NGO also provided 50 stools for patient attendants in the ward and said that these small steps will help us build patient confidence in public health delivery.”
