Man attempts suicide at Telangana Secretariat

A 37-year-old man, allegedly attempted suicide by consuming some unknown "poisonous" liquid on the premises of the Telangana secretariat here today, police said.

Devaiah belonging to Timmapur village of Nirmal district, had come to the secretariat along with his wife and two daughters, a senior police officer attached to Central Zone said, based on preliminary investigation.

He suddenly consumed a liquid from a bottle and fell unconscious on the ground even as policemen deployed as part of security immediately got him shifted to a nearby private hospital, the officer added.

According to some media reports, as per a note which was found with him, Devaiah was facing some problem over allocation of land from the government to him in his village.

In the note, Devaiah purportedly wrote that he was facing land allocation problem for the past three years and hence he was resorting to take the extreme step.
However, police said no case was registered in connection with the incident.
