Buoyed by the good response to the pilot project of supplying blankets with covers to the passengers for a period of six months, the South Central Railway (SCR) decided to implement the scheme on all the First AC coaches of trains originating from Hyderabad and Secunderabad.

Arjun Mundiya, Chief Mechanical Engineer, SCR launched the supply of blankets with covers to the first AC passengers in Devagiri Express at Secunderabad Railway Station on Friday. Amit Vardan, Divisional Railway Manager (DRM), Secunderabad formally distributed the blankets with covers at Hyderabad Railway Station to the First AC passengers travelling in Godavari Express.
As per the guidelines of the General Manager and in tune with the Railway Board directives, SCR headquarters conducted trials by supplying blankets in covers for a period of six months both at Hyderabad and Secunderabad coaching depots in Mumbai Express and in Nizamuddin Duranto Express.
The blankets with different coloured covers for onward and return journey were supplied to the passengers; 79% of the passengers indicated the initiative as excellent and 21% marked it as very good. It will be implemented on regular basis in all the trains having first AC coaches viz., Charminar Express, Mumbai Express, Telangana Express and Hyderabad-Narsapur Express (all from Hyderabad);
and Falaknuma Express, Narayanadri Express, Ajantha Express, Simhapuri Express, Secunderabad-Lokmanya Tilak Duranto Express, Secunderabad-Visakhpatnam Duranto Express, Secundrabad-Hazrath Nizamuddin Duranto Express, Secunderabad-Shalimar Superfast Express and Secunderabad-Visakhpatnam weekly superfast express originating from Secunderabad Station.
