Hyderabad: The District Educational Office (DEO), Hyderabad identified as many as 6,394 children - 3,349 boys and 3,045 girls - under the Badi Baata programme. Under this programme, unprivileged children in the city will be enrolled in the government schools to pursue education. Children enrolled in government schools can collect text books from respective mandal offices.

According to the survey conducted by DEO, officials have identified 6,394 in 13 mandals in Hyderabad district to enrol them in schools. Among them, 1,826 children are from Schedule Caste; 1,075 from Schedule Tribe (ST); 1375 from Backward Class (BC) and 2,118 from Other Castes.

A senior official in District Educational office told The Hans India that Badi Baata programme has been going on since five years and under this programme we indentify children from various communities and enrol them to provide education in government schools.

Official said that this programme takes place every year before the schools reopen and this year the programme will start form June 13 to June 17 .
