Kothagudem: Leaders of various trade unions of the Singareni Collieries Company Limited (SCCL) received invitations to attend the June 13 talks, to discuss their demands, in Delhi.

It may be recalled that the SCCL trade unions served strike notice to the management, stating that they will go ahead with the strike from June 15 if their demands were not met. Deputy Labour Commissioner Shyam Sundar extended invitations to the trade union leaders for talks as the May 25 talks had ended in a deadlock.

The talks were held at Singareni Bhavan in Delhi on May 25 in the presence of the Deputy Labour Commissioner with the participation of the Singareni management representatives and trade union leaders.

As the management sought time to seek legal advice on hereditary jobs to SCCL workers, the talks were put off. Now the management is prepared for the discussion and the stage is set for holding the talks on June 13.

It was eight months ago that the SCCL management announced jobs on hereditary basis, but it was challenged two months ago in the High Court and the Supreme Court. To put pressure on the management, the SCCL trade unions called for a strike from June 15.

SCCL CITU leader Narasimha Rao confirmed to The Hans India that he and others received invitations for talks. Merger of CMPF with the EPF, jobs on hereditary basis among others will be discussed during the talks.
