Irrigation Minister T Harish Rao, on Saturday, said the Kaleshwaram Project would be completed by next June and transform the entire area into a green bed.

The Minister,along with TRS leaderErrabelliDayakar Rao and officials, inspected the canal works of SRSP progressing in Warangal Urban district. At Rayaparti, the minister said efforts are being made to prevent one lakh cusecs of Godavari waters going waste into the sea.
Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao wants to see the farmers are happy and Rs 4,000 input subsidy per acre will be given from next May. Warangal will be the first district to benefit from Kaleshwaram Project on completion. Permissions will be given for repairs of the canal, he said.
Stating that in first phase, works of 7000 cusecs will be taken up and SRSP major canal will be covered with thick polythene cover to prevent waters going waste. A check-dam worth Rs 8 crore will be constructed at Akeru lake in Wardhannapetmandal under Mission Kakatiya IV phase works. He inspected the canal at Palivelpula, Autonagar areas in Hanmakonda and sought to know the details.
When he visited the canal, the local people raised objection to the development works as the works would render them homeless. Interacting with them, the minister assured to construct double bedroom facility for them in the area and asked them to help the government to develop the canal.
“Since Chief Minister KCR is keen on developing the canal for 10,000 cusecs capacity, we came to inspect the canal under first and second phase works”, he said adding that efforts are on for canal development as it will help the farmers to go in for two crops. Later, the minister left for making a visit to SRSP Canal works in Wardhannapet constituency.
