Khammam: Communist Party of India (Marxist) (CPI-M) State secretary Tammineni Veerabhadram stressed on the need of socialist concern to eradicate caste-based discrimination. Speaking at the party’s political training classes here on Saturday he said socialism is the only way that could wipe out the caste inequalities.

Referring to the party’s five-month-long Maha Jana Padayatra that covered 4,200 kms crisscrossing 520 villages, Tammineni said it created a sense of awareness about the importance of social justice among the masses. Moreover, the success of Padayatra injected confidence among the parties that were fighting for the cause of poor.

He said the country needs more and more such programmes to exert pressure on the Central and State governments that have adopted anti-people policies. “Despite the Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao’s call to his cadres to thwart the CPM’s padayatra, the programme went on successfully,” he said. He said the people have now realised the true colours of the ruling party and they will teach them a fitting lesson in the near future. Senior leader Yerra Srikanth and a host of party cadres were present.
