Hyderabad: City-based ICFAI Centre for Tax Policy will hold a two-day seminar on 'Goods and Service Tax (GST): A Way Forward' here from June 17. "The objective of the two-day seminar is to provide insights into the various provisions of GST law, rules, regulations and procedures required to face the fast approaching GST implementation date," ICFAI Group Director, Branding, Sudhakar Rao and ICFAI Law School Dean prof A V Narsimha Rao told reporters today.
The decision to implement GST (to be rolled out from July 1), is a significant leap towards tax reforms in India, they said. Around 300 delegates from academics, legal and accounting professionals, industry and trade people, officials and machinery from the GST implementation side will take part which is going to be a knowledge sharing event having cross section people, they said.
"This seminar will act as a platform with an interactive industry interface session to address apprehensions of the corporate and other stake holders and we are sure that this event will provide an opportunity to clear the doubts of the participants on critical areas of the GST implementation including on the problems of switch-overs from the existing model to new GST models, transfer of credits and tax brackets," they said.
The seminar provides guidance on the IT infrastructure design needed by corporate to cope with the robust end-to-end IT system platform set to make the implementation of GST simpler and easier to implement. ICFAI is taking various initiatives to spread awareness among the corporate and other stake-holders by organising programmes and seminars with insights from experts from industry, practice and policy administrators, they added.
