Hyderabad: In a new twist to the Ibrahimpatnam land scam, TRS secretary-general K Keshav Rao on Wednesday announced that he had advised his family members to cancel the sale deed and get back their consideration money and not to involve themselves in the ‘muddy deal’.

In a statement, Keshav Rao said that since the government holds the view that the said land belong to it and, therefore, there won’t be any mutation of land possible, he had advised his family members to cancel the sale deed with the Virgo Global Media Ltd, who explicitly indemnified that there was no litigation or encumbrance on the said lands and if such things were found, they would pay back the money and compensate for the loss.

He asked his family members to demand full money with interest and also compensation for the damage done to the prestige of the family.

“We don’t want to get into the muddy deal nor are we prepared to fight against our own government and our leader,” KK said.

It may be recalled that when the issue came to light, Keshav Rao said that land was purchased in 2013 when he was in the Congress after making proper enquiries with the Revenue officials.

He said they entered into the sale deed “after thorough verification of the documents like court decree, government documents, etc and after being convinced of the genuineness.

We did not purchase any land illegally. We did not purchase any government land and no official was involved in any illegal transfer of the land to us.” He said the suspension of in-charge Sub Registrar Saleha Qadeer amounts to contempt of court.

Keshav Rao said nearly 38 acres of land in Ibrahimpatnam was purchased by his daughter G Vijaya Lakshmi and daughter-in-law Jyotsna and that it was not a controversial land and is free from all disputes. Agreement to purchase the land was done in 2013 and the registration was done in 2015, he added.
