Hyderabad: The Miyapur land scam is taking a serious political turn with the opposition parties trying to put up a united fight demanding CBI probe. The Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) is taking the initiative to unite the opposition parties and lead a delegation to New Delhi to meet the Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh.

It has also called on Governor ESL Narasimhan on Thursday and demanded that the government be sacked. In an effort to silence the Opposition, the government said that it would come out with details of irregularities indulged in by opposition party leaders.

The TPCC leaders, who called on the Governor, apprised him of the “casual” attitude of the Chief Minister in handling the issue. They alleged that crores of rupees worth of government land has gone into the hands of private individuals and the dimension of the problem was much greater than what it was in the undivided Andhra Pradesh.

They informed the Governor that there was a direct involvement of KCR family members, senior officials in the CMO and those who are close to the Chief Minister. The TPCC president also raised doubts on sudden decision of TRS MP K Keshava Rao deciding to give up 50 acres of land registered in the name of his family members.

He also found fault over the participation of TRS MP from Nizamabad K Kavitha, in an official meeting convened by Keshava Rao over the issue. Later, the leaders met at the Congress Legislature Party office and discussed their next course of action.

They felt that it would be better if they take up a united fight against the major land scam and put pressure on the Centre to order a CBI probe.

Countering the allegations, Irrigation Minister T Harish Rao on Thursday said that from now onwards the government would bring out the irregularities and illegal activities of the opposition leaders in the state.

When asked why the government had not exposed the illegal activities of opposition leaders, Harish Rao said till now their focus was mainly on the governance but from now onwards, the government would bring out the irregularities and illegal activities of the Congress and TDP leaders.

He asked the TPCC president to prove the involvement of KCR’s family in the land scam. In the event of his failure to prove his allegation, he should rub his nose on the ground at the Abids centre.

Harish Rao alleged that the issues like Miyapur were result of negligent attitude of the Congress party, which ruled for over 40 years and TDP which ruled for 15 years. He said that Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao while reviewing the department got to know about the irregularities in the registration department as he was seeing the audit report. The Chief Minister examined the report and immediately directed suspension of the officials.
