Hanamkonda: Expressing confidence on the leadership of Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) chief and Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao, Warangal (West) MLA Konda Surekha claimed that she is not worried about not getting the cabinet berth.

“We are happy, contented and have no worries. While in Congress we considered late Y S Rajasekhara Reddy our leader and now we trust the Chief Minister’s leadership” the MLA said while referring to herself and her husband MLC Konda Muralidhar Rao.

In the backdrop of rumours about the couple leaving the party because the MLA is not yet given place in the State cabinet, Surekha spoke to The Hans India-HMTV in Warangal on Saturday. She said it is not new for her to hold a Ministry and as she had quit the Minister post in the past for the cause of Telangana.

The Chief Minister had never denied anything we asked for the development of the constituency. Our focus is on developing the constituency and to be available to the people in the constituency. There are no qualms over the Minister post now, whenever the Chief Minister intends to choose me for the post, I will accept it then, she added.

The MLA appealed to her followers to not believe in the rumours being spread about her quitting TRS and joining Congress. She said there is no reason why we should leave the party and I cannot understand the logic behind these rumours.

The rumours are the handiwork of persons acting with vested interests to confuse the people and to malign our reputation. It has become a practice for media and those working against us to launch such campaign whenever we miss an official programme, she said.

“The Telugu Desam Party chief N Chandrababu Naidu and Palakurthy MLA E Dayakar Rao, when he was in TDP, tried to suppress us, but we managed to overcome such pressures as we have public patronage” Surekha noted while not sparing Dayakar Rao who is now her colleague in the TRS.

The case is the same now we have public patronage and the blessings of the Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao. In next election I am going to contest from Warangal (East) assembly constituency and will win the seat with majority votes than the previous election, she asserted.
