Hyderabad: Medical and Health Minister C Laxma Reddy asked the officials to specially focus on the Agency areas in the State to prevent spread of seasonal diseases.
Presiding over a review meeting with senior officials of the Medical and Health Department (MHD) here on Friday, the Minister directed the officials to ensure that the diagnostic laboratories in all Government hospitals in the State are equipped with necessary equipment and chemicals to conduct tests.
He asked the health officials to work in coordination with district administration, Panchayat Raj, local municipal corporations in combating mosquito menace, maintaining sanitation and preventing spread of diseases.
Further, the Minister instructed the officials to give wide publicity on the preventive measures to be taken by the people so that they would not become victims of seasonal diseases. People have to undergo preliminary diagnostic tests and avail the facilities provided at the Government hospitals. The Minister also asked to identify high, medium and low risk villages and organise health camps in such places.
On shortage of staff in the Government hospitals, Laxma Reddy said that the process of re-structuring of medical officers has been completed and exact number of vacancies would be identified after completion of the process of the departmental promotions. Filling up of the existing and new vacancies would be taken up after taking approval from Chief Minister K Chandrashekara Rao, he said.
Laxma Reddy was informed that 6,279 KCR kits have been distributed to the women undergoing deliveries at Government hospitals. He said that the number of institutional deliveries in the Government hospitals is likely to go up and they have to take steps for effective implementation of the scheme.
