Sub-Inspector’s sexploit bid spurred suicide?

Kuknoorpally Sub-Inspector P Prabhakar Reddy shot himself dead with his service revolver due to fear, guilt and panic as he attempted to exploit Sirisha sexually

Hyderabad: It appears the KuknoorpallySub-Inspector P Prabhakar Reddy tried to take advantage of the situation makeup artist Sirisha was in and made an attempt to exploit her for physical pleasure.

Sirisha, her employer Rajeev Kumar and their friend Sravan Kumar had gone to Kuknoorpally late on June 12 evening to seek a solution for the triangular love story of Rajeev as her new love interest Tejaswini was allegedly insulting and troubling Sirisha.

The four consumed liquor at Prabhakar Reddy’s residential quarters. Voluntary consumption of liquor and Sirisha’s intimacy to Rajeev despite being married for 13 years with a 12-year-old daughter seems to have prompted the SI to try his hand with her.

Hyderabad Police Commissioner M Mahender Reddy on Friday confirmed that Prabhakar Reddy did make an attempt to sexually assault Sirisha. He tried to send Rajeev and Sravan away asking them to enjoy girls at a prostitution den nearby and also offered to tell a contact to arrange this.

The repeated attempts of the SI to send Rajeev and Sravan away luring them with sexual pleasures shows he wanted to spend time alone with Sirisha. When Rajeev refused the offer, he could not wait anymore and made sexual advances at her when Rajeev and Sravan went out for a smoke. However, he backed off as Sirisha resisted and raised alarm.

Because his intention was not good, the SI was worried even after Rajeev, Sravan and Sirisha left his house. He called Sravan twice over phone to make sure that they left Kuknoorpally police station jurisdiction.It appears he was in panic after hearing about deeper investigation into Sirisha’s death and anxiously called his batch mate, Harinder, working as Sub-Inspector at Banjara Hills police station at 8.32 am on June 14 to enquire about the probe.

However, Harinder told Prabhakar Reddy that he had no information since he was not dealing with the case. Later, he made four calls to Harinder and made the last call at 10.05 am. It was then Harinder told Prabhakar Reddy that the suspects had told the interrogators about the liquor party they had at Kuknoorpally.

As soon as Harinder said this, Prabhakar Reddy hung up the phone. Later, between 11.30 am and 12 noon, news of Prabhakar Reddy’s suicide came out, Mahender Reddy said.Apparently, Prabhakar Reddy felt guilty as he had made an attempt to sexually assault Sirisha after which she committed suicide.

Also, he was afraid that he might be booked for attempt to rape and he did not want to face such an ugly situation, thus resulting in his tragic end, a senior police officer said.Meanwhile, the city police arrived at the conclusion that Rajeev wanted only solution for his triangular love trouble, but it seems Sravan had some ill-intention.

Sravan was involved in debauchery instances in the past and his character is reported to be not good.“He had some plan in mind and compelled Rajeev and Sirisha to go with him to Kuknoorpally at the odd hours. He is not speaking the truth about his actual intention in taking them to Prabhakar Reddy,” said Mahender Reddy.
