The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) is contemplating to improve sports and other infrastructure facilities on the outskirts of the city after identifying open spaces. 

Hyderabad: The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) is contemplating to improve sports and other infrastructure facilities on the outskirts of the city after identifying open spaces.

GHMC commissioner B Janardhan Reddy directed District Collectors to identify land at the earliest to take up the infrastructure projects. Janardhan Reddy, Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority commissioner T Chiranjeevulu, Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board Managing Director M Dana Kishore and other senior officials conducted convergence meeting on Saturday at Medchal Collector office in Keesara.

During the meeting, the GHMC Commissioner directed the revenue officials to identify open places and provide details to the GHMC for taking up double bed room houses construction. He also said that the GHMC is also planning to improve the sports facilities and to construct community halls.Dana Kishore said that drinking water facilities are planned at a cost of Rs 628 crore near Out Ring Road where 183 Grama Panchayaths and 7 Municipalities are located. The Medchal Collector MV Reddy has requested Water Board MD to provide free tap connections for school children.

HMDA commissioner requested the Medchal Collector MV Reddy to provide two acres of land for seven municipalities for taking up greenery. He further said that HMDA has already procured 1.8 crore saplings for this year Haritha Haram. Survey has already been completed for 2,300 lakes out of total 3,182 lakes to protect them from encroachments, he said.

Medchal Collector, MV Reddy requested the Water Board MD for proper maintenance of drinking water, drainage lines, providing of water to the parks, removal of electrical poles which are on the middle of the roads and taking up of road repairing works.
