Sangareddy: IT and Industries Minister K T Rama Rao laid the foundation stone for Medical Devices Park at Sulthanpur village in Ameenpur mandal of Sangareddy district on Saturday.

Being set up in 250-acre area, the park will have facilities for innovation, research and development. Apart from manufacturing medical devices, the park will have education, training, research and incubation facilities.

At present, nearly 75 per cent devices are imported resulting in high cost of healthcare in India. Once the park becomes functional, the medical devices could be made locally reducing the cost of diagnostics. This will help common man and the poor get better medical facilities at an affordable cost.

Speaking on the occasion, KTR urged the industrialists to provide jobs to the local people in their companies to the extent possible. He said if the local people need some skill development, the government is willing to provide necessary training in the skills if the companies state what kind of skills they required. The park is expected to directly employ 5,000 people and indirectly employ 12,000 people.

The Minister said in the three years since its formation, Telangana has been witnessed rapid growth. The TRS Government got accolades from various quarters for offering good governance, KTR said.

Minister Harish Rao said that after the formation of Telangana State, the new State has been giving equal priority to all the sectors and it is KCR and KTR who are responsible for putting the State in fast forward mode with regard to development. Later, the Industries Minister along with Harish Rao went through an exhibition of medical devices put on display on this occasion.
