Hyderabad: BJP Legislature party leader G Kishan Reddy has requested the government to organise an all-party meeting on the ongoing strike by the workers of Singareni coal mines, hold talks with the workers’ Union leaders immediately and settle the issue in an amicable manner.

In a press note here on Sunday, Kishan Reddy said it was unfortunate that instead of settling the issues, the State government was trying to scuttle the strike. He said the BJP was fully supporting the demands of the workers.

He pointed out that the TRS party had assured to provide jobs to dependants of workers in the collieries, on the eve of 2014 elections, but the government was now facing a problem due to the hasty decisions taken by the Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao, without having discussions with the Union leaders on the issue, for political gain.

As a result, thousands of workers are facing hardship now. He also said that the government resorting to arrest and foisting cases against Union leaders, in a bid to break the strike, indicates its dictatorial and bankrupt policies.
