Hyderabad Metro Rail sets up committee to study accident areas
The Hyderabad Metro Rail constituted a committee on Monday to conduct a study of the accident-prone areas in the city identified by the traffic police. After conducting the study, it would recommend the remedial measures to be taken and submit the report to improve road safety conditions.

The committee comprises an independent traffic and transportation expert Dr T S Reddy, HMRL engineers B N Rajeshwar, Y Sayapa Reddy and GHMC EE(T&T) M Venkat Reddy. The ACP (Traffic) will be nominated by Joint Transport Commissioner and Additional DCP (HMR) A Balakrishna, who would be the member-convener of the committee.
The committee has been asked to submit its report within one month after holding consultations with the traffic police of Cyberabad and Rachakonda Commissionerates and the L&TMRHL.
Speaking to the media, the HMR officials said that the roads in Hyderabad city were designed for a maximum speed of 65 km per hour and if any vehicle travels at a very high speed of over 200 km per hour, there was no way a Metro Rail pillar could be designed to prevent such accidents.
