Hyderabad: Alleging that the K Chandrashekar Rao government had remained a silent spectator to the encroachment of prime government lands worth several lakh crores of rupees for the last three years, senior BJP leader Nallu Indrasena Reddy dismissed the ordinance issued by the State government in the wake of widespread criticism as nothing but eyewash.

Speaking to the media here on Thursday, the BJP leader said the ordinance lacked clear-cut guidelines about taking steps to curb the menace, recovery of grabbed lands, cancellation of registration of government lands in favour of private individuals and stern action to be taken against the officials who indulged in illegal activities and so on.

Opining that the officials in the Chief Minister’s Office were facilitating the illegal transfer of government lands, Indrasena Reddy said the value of the government lands encroached upon in the State capital and the surroundings was more than the State’s annual budget.

strongly felt that if the State government was sincere, it could curb the land scams by effectively implementing the present laws. The BJP leader strongly felt that a CBI probe alone could put an end to the land scams. He also charged the State government with wilfully keeping the post of Chief Commissioner of Land Administration (CCLA) vacant for years with an intention to pave way for land scams.

Alleging that the previous government withdrew cases from courts to shield the culprits, Indrasena Reddy lamented that the KCR government remained silent on the land loot. He also demanded that the State government make the erstwhile Nizam regime’s Blue Book about lands public immediately.
