Telangana Rashtra Samithi MLC defends decision to back Ramnath Kovind
Taking strong objection to the allegations by Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) president N Uttam Kumar Reddy that the Presidential candidate Ramnath Kovind was communal, Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) MLC Karne Prabhakar strongly defended the decision of the TRS to support the candidature of Ramnath Kovind in the Presidential elections.
Hyderabad: Taking strong objection to the allegations by Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) president N Uttam Kumar Reddy that the Presidential candidate Ramnath Kovind was communal, Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) MLC Karne Prabhakar strongly defended the decision of the TRS to support the candidature of Ramnath Kovind in the Presidential elections.
At a press conference here on Friday, Prabhkar said the Congress which had conspired to demolish Babri Masjid and was responsible for the massacre of Sikhs in 1984 had no right to call leaders of other parties communal. The TRS leader said they had decided to support the NDA candidate to ensure development of Telangana State. He said Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao had single-point agenda and that was the development of Telangana.
Prabhakar alleged that former Lok Sabha Speaker Meira Kumar had been made a scapegoat by the Congress. He said Meira Kumar was fielded as a candidate knowing well that she did not stand a chance to win the election.
