Hyderabad: Telugu film actor Ravi Teja's younger brother Bharath was killed when his car collided with a lorry at Shamshabad area here on Saturday night. Bharath, 45, who also acted in a few Telugu movies, was driving the car when it hit the stationary lorry on the Outer Ring Road near Kothwalguda at Shamshabad, according to Rajiv Gandhi International Airport's police.

Bharath, who died on the spot, was alone in the car when the mishap occurred, police said. "He was travelling towards Gachibowli from Shamshabad ’’ the police added. "The viscera of the deceased will be sent to a forensic science laboratory to determine whether it was a case of drink-driving,” police said.

The lorry was parked near the roadside after it broke down prior to the accident, police said. A case will be registered against the lorry driver as he parked it without switching on precautionary indicators for other vehicles, the inspector said Originally hailed from Kakinada and the elder of Ravi Teja's two younger brothers, Bharath was accused of being involved in drug and sex rackets.

Police found a bottle of Grey Goose vodka from the ill-fated car. The car was registered on Ravi Teja’s mother Rajyalakshmi’s name. Ravi Teja stayed away from funeral of his brother.He said he had stayed away from funeral because he could not bear to see his brother’s mutilated body. No one from Ravi Teja’s family attended the last rites of Bharat, it is learnt.
