Former minister and BJP leader Nagam Janardhan Reddy on Wednesday raised the issue of deplorable conditions in the Nagarkurnool Government Hospital, located 133 km from Hyderabad.

Stating that the hospital is under severe crisis in terms of staff particularly doctors, the BJP leader said that the doctors who have been transferred to the hospital on promotion have not reported.

He urged the government to ascertain that the doctors transferred to the hospital stay for at least a period of three years. Nagam Janardhan Reddy said that the condition of the other area hospitals all over the state is similar.

Meanwhile, dozens of pregnant women staged protests outside the Nagarkurnool government hospital, since no gynecologists were available to offer any medical treatment or even deliver their babies. They were asked to Mahbubnagar district hospital, which is located an hour drive away from the hospital.

Following the protests, police reached the spot but the agitation came to an end after the women received an assurance from the hospital's superintendent.
