​Hyderabad: The Telangana government on Friday put in abeyance the orders to hike the rates of cinema tickets following objections from the film industry.

The government on June 23 had issued a GO No 75 increasing the ticket prices. As per the order, in multiplexes, a ticket would cost Rs 300 for Gold/Royal Class and Rs 200 for Executive/ Regular class as against Rs 250 and Rs 150 respectively.

The ticket prices in Greater Hyderabad and other municipal corporations have been increased to Rs 40 for lower class and Rs 120 for higher class in AC theatres, against the existing Rs 75 and Rs 20.

In non-AC theatres, ticket price was to be Rs 20 for lower and Rs 60 for higher class. In municipalities, the ticket prices were revised as Rs 30 for lower class and Rs 80 for higher class in AC theatres against Rs 50 (higher) and Rs 10 (lower) at present.

In nagar panchayats and gram panchayats, the new ticket prices were to be Rs 70 for higher class and Rs 20 for lower class in AC theatres as against the existing rates of Rs 30 and Rs 10.
