Hyderabad: A local court on Friday granted seven-day police custody for ISIS sympathiser Konakalla Subramanyam aka Omer, who was arrested a week ago for allegedly planning subversive activities in India.

Omer, a native of Krishna district embraced Islam in 2014 and visited various places like Gujarat, Srinagar, Tamil Nadu and Mumbai for training in religious and subversive activities, police said.

Even as he was planning to carry out subversive activities, police received a tip off and arrested him. Police recovered a mobile phone containing incriminating material from the accused.

The investigators will now question him in detail about his contacts across the globe, particularly in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh since his information could lead the police to sleeper cells and terror operatives in the making, sources said.
