Mahbubnagar: Gadwal MLA D K Aruna slammed the State government for giving priority to the Koilsagar reservoir in Mahbubnagar over Guddem Doddi and Ryalampadu reservoirs in Gadwal.

She opposed the Irrigation Department’s decision to fill Koilsagar reservoir first while ignoring the other two reservoirs. Aruna alleged that the Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao is repeating the mistakes committed by leaders in the erstwhile Andhra Pradesh.

While addressing a press meet here on Saturday, Aruna said, “Guddem Doddi and Rylampadu reservoirs were built to meet the irrigational needs of the dry land areas in Gadwal and surrounding regions. However, the government is lifting water from Jurala Project and filling Koilsagar reservoir in Mahbubnagar first.” We demand that the government first fill these two reservoirs and then divert it to other areas later, she added.

Referring to the Goods and Services Tax (GST) rolled out by the Central government, Aruna said that GST is a big loss to the middle and upper middle class people as it will increase tax on certain mass attracting items like mobile phones, refrigerators and others.

She also questioned the central government’s indifferent attitude of levying GST on some of agricultural products and textiles.
“We demand that the central government completely exempt Agriculture and Textiles sectors from the purview of GST which will help the farming and handbook workers,” she said.
